Here we go. What do all of my film geek friends think? Discuss.
Personally, I'm not too surprised except for the Crash as best picture thing and Keira getting a nomination over Scarlett. As if I know them!
First name basis.
Oh, and as far as Crash, don't get me wrong. I love it. I thought it was amazing, I just didn't expect Best Picture. I was completely thinking Walk the Line.
I am sore from working out and wasting time before my next class. Sitting in the computer lab is always interesting. You see the most bizarre people looking at the most bizarre things online. For instance, for the last half hour (before his departure), the boy sitting next to me was talking to himself as Hank Hill. I swear, I am not making this up. So, stereotyping him off the bat, I look over to his screen expecting to see something trivial...and he's doing a power point presentation. Go figure.

Oscars...
I would have prefered Walk the Line in that catagory, but I think the Academy liked the more agressive social commentary of Crash. This is in line with an interview I read with Spielberg, in which he talked of directors and writers being more outspoken and political in their films. But I loved the themes of Cash's life as portrayed in Walk the Line. "Love, God, and Murder" indeed - to borrow from his anthology.
